Lhasa to Kathmandu Ride 6 7 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 The ultimate bike ride l Cycle to Everest Base Camp l 4600m descent into Nepal Itinerary - Day by Day Premium departure S P F Polo FdeparturPe F Family departure ROAD • NEPAL, TIBET 59 21 days inc. flights from £3749 Emerald Lake Nepal, Tibet 1 Depart London. 2 Arrive Kathmandu. 3 Warm-up ride along the roads and trails of the Kathmandu Valley. 4 Fly to Lhasa. 5 Acclimatisation ride around Lhasa; visit Potala Palace. 6 Optional ride to Sera Monastery, or relax in Lhasa. 7 Ride out of Lhasa along Lhasa River to Chusul. 8 Ride or transfer over the Kamba La (4794m) and on to Yamdrok Lake; to Nagartse. 9 Ascend to Karo La (5045m) followed by 1000m descent to Gyantse. 10 Ride down to Shigatse. 11 Rest day in Shigatse and visit Tashilhunpo Monastery. 12 Cycle the passes of Tra La (4050m) and Tsuo La (4520m) to Lhatse. 13 Cycle across the Gyatso La (5248m). 14 Follow the Friendship Highway to Tingri. 15 Ride over the Lamma La Pass into Jarongbuk. 16 Rest day in Jaronbuk and cycle to Everest Base Camp (5200m). 17 Cycle over Nam La (5100) and down to Tingri. 18 Ride over Lalung La (4950m) and Yarle Shung La (5200m) then start the epic downhill towards Nepal. After some essential time acclimatising around Kathmandu and Lhasa, our route takes us across high altitude desert and over awesome mountain passes. We stop at the Rongbuk Monastery and Everest Base Camp for stunning views of the north face of Mt Everest, before making the 160km, 4600m descent into Nepal and the lush Kathmandu Valley. In recent years much of the route has been surfaced making it perfect for cycling. A tough trip, but for those who venture to the spectacular beauty of Tibet, the sense of achievement is guaranteed.
