Day 3 Fotheringhay & leicester In the morning we check out of our hotel and visit Fotheringhay, the birthplace of Richard. We will then travel on to Leicester to explore the newly opened Richard III visitors’ centre, located on the site where the King’s remains were discovered and Leicester Cathedral, to see Richard III’s tomb and memorial. We shall have a group lunch in Leicester and return to the hotel at approx 15:30hrs. Depart at your leisure. B,L You will stay for two nights at the 3-star standard Britannia Hotel Bosworth Hall. The hotel is situated in landscaped gardens and offers a restaurant, bar and leisure club. The Triumph of the longbow Discover the history of the ‘Hundred Years’. Day 1 Local departure by coach, then to Abbeville in Northern France for a three-night stay. D Day 2 This morning we travel to Le Crotoy, where the English imprisoned Jeanne dâ Arc prior to her execution. Following a break for lunch we spend the afternoon visiting the XV Century castle at Rambures. Built during the 100 years war, we see the castle's unique architecture and explore the wonderful garden. B,D Day 3 Drive to the Field of Agincourt. Surprisingly, the battlefield itself has changed little, with the ‘funnel’ formed by the flanking woods still very obvious, and we can walk the ground as details of the battle, tactics and weapons are discussed. Picnic lunch. We will visit the informative Visitors’ Centre, and as today will feature the annual re-enactment of a battle of the period, we shall take the opportunity to watch the re-enactors in all their splendour and wander around the authentically recreated camps.
